Dress-Up Birthday Parties – for girls ages 5-11

From Debra Ross, editor of
kidsoutandabout.com
for
Rochester, NY: “If you'd like a down-to-earth,
traditionally-fun tea party for your child that is
completely free of the Disney-esque hype that
accompanies many birthday parties, Gingerbread Manor Bed
& Breakfast in Brockport is the place for you. We had a
few girls there on Sunday to celebrate Ella's birthday,
and Darla Bair, the innkeeper, was one of the most
gracious, friendly, and accessible birthday hosts I've
ever met. The food was great -- simultaneously simple
and sophisticated. Darla was happy to create a
dairy-free luncheon to meet our guests' needs...and
she'll do gluten-free, peanut-free...you name it, she's
up for the culinary challenge. The storytelling was
entertaining, the dress-up was with real gowns, and the
treasure hunt through an old Victorian inn was
compelling for even the most cynical. We wish we were
available for the Mother-Daughter overnight they're
hosting tomorrow evening.”
Little girls’ eyes grow enormous when we open the huge
cupboard filled with prom dresses and wedding gowns,
long gloves, hordes of jewelry, hats and high-heeled
shoes! After the girls make their choices and get
outfitted in finery from head to toe, they come to the
table for the party! All child-friendly finger food,
served, of course in elegance to befit the lovely
ladies!
- Breakfast sandwiches of peanut butter/jelly or cream
cheese/jam
- Fresh fruit kabobs
- Mini-muffins and other home-baked treats
- Punch served in champagne flutes
- Meat and cheese roll-ups
Innkeepers provide stories and games with prizes. Bring your
camera, Mom! Only $19 per child. For an additional fee,
we will provide a birthday cake (with your child’s
name!) from Gregory's Bakery.
Minimum 6 girls; maximum 14 girls. Two moms please stay
to help with the dress-up time. If more than three
adults stay, there is an extra charge of $30 for a
coffee/tea and coffee cake set up.

Birthday Barn Party
Birthday Barn Party boys and girls, ages 6 – 12
warm weather dates only
Each child decorates an apron with fabric paints. While
they dry, the children go on a scavenger hunt around the
mansion and barn, searching for 25 items such as an
antique sewing machine, a piece of picket fence indoors,
a flock of fuzzy sheep and an old man’s photo in an oval
frame. Each guest shows off his or her culinary artistry
by decorating a fresh, fluffy cupcake from Greg’ry’s
Bakery. Snacks and punch follow, while the guest of
honor opens gifts. Remember your camera to document the
fun! $22 per person
Minimum 6 children; maximum 14. Two moms please stay to
help with the decorating.

Etiquette Teas

Designed for Scout Troops to meet badge requirements on
good manners. Please provide a copy of the try-it, badge
or patch requirements with your registration payment.
Welcome to our dining room! The table is set with china
and crystal. Your hostess (a former Girl Scout leader
herself) will guide you humorously and gently through
the confusing “why” and “how” of napkin placement and
use, cutting with a knife, passing food, table
conversation and other manners of civilized people.
No stress, all done to help not hinder. But, yes, she
will ask you kindly to not stick your tongue out! Gather
a group of like-minded folks to learn the finer points
of some of our lost table manners. $18 per person
includes light meal, dessert, beverage, how to set a
table, and lots of fun!

Gingerbread Manor Intimate Afternoon Tea Time

Gingerbread Manor provides a lovely setting for your
women’s group. Consider holding your next book club
meeting, baby shower, or off-site team meeting at
Gingerbread Manor and combine it with a tea! We provide
the food, beverages, and a Victorian country house for
your event, and we clean up. Above all, remember that
it’s not the fancy china, or the Victorian house, or the
cucumber sandwiches… it’s the friends that you share it
all with that makes the day memorable!
Tea is served between 2:00 and 4:00 any available day.
Guests are seated in the library, the formal parlor and
the dining room. We can accommodate up to 18 guests.
Tea sandwiches with a variety of tasty fillings,
homemade butter scones and tiny sweets and treats are
served with your beverage of choice: homemade cocoa,
brewed tea, freshly-brewed coffee or the chilled
beverage du jour. The appropriate jams, creams, sugars
and other savory additions will be on your table.
Dietary restrictions are honored if the Innkeeper is
made aware of them when the reservation is made.
Tea time requires a reservation and costs $16 per
person. When you call for your reservation, please be
prepared to tell us how many people are coming. When you
arrive, let the Innkeeper know if someone will not be
joining us; the food will be boxed up to take along, as
there are no refunds for a guest who does not show.
Add-ons:
- Old-fashioned sing-along (song sheets and accompanist
provided) $35
- Birthday cake and candles, Happy Birthday played on
